10 things I am OCD about…C’mon and Play Along! February 26, 2008

1-I have to have my towels hanging with the opening on the right.

2-I have to say the same 3 phrases to my daughter every night when I put her to bed. “I love you, Baby Angel. You sleep good with sweet dreams. God bless you and keep you safe.”

3-I have to floss/brush my teeth every single night or I can’t go to bed. No matter how tired I am.

4-Everything MUST match. All of the time. No exceptions.

5-I have to wear a headset when I talk on the phone in the car. Otherwise I won’t talk on the phone in the car (when I’m driving).

6- I cannot stand crumbs on the counter. Or in the sink. Wipe them up or rinse them down!

7-If I’m putting on more than one ring in the morning, I have to put on my wedding ring first.

8-Although my daughter’s sippy cups have interchangeable lids, I am a freak about the right cup having the right lid. See also #4.

9-I must wipe my daughter’s nose if it’s running, or get an eye booger, or change her if her clothes are soiled. I always want her to look as cute as she is!

10-I have to unload the top rack of the dishwasher first.

There are soooooooooo many more than 10, but just thought I’d share a few. What are you OCD about? And don’t say “nothing” because you are lying.

A Tag from my darling niece…10 random things December 19, 2007

1. It is possible to both love and hate your husband at the same time.

2. I can scrapbook for an entire weekend and not get sick of it one tiny bit.

3. Shaelin is the funniest, cutest, smartest almost-two-year-old I know.

4. Though my family can drive me absolutely crazy at times, I’m DYING to see all of them next week!!!!

5. I am definitely turning into my mother. And her mother. And probably her mother too.

6. Ray is damn lucky to have me.

7. I consider myself to be a really great friend.

8. I am in love with love. And hearts.

9. I tried these new brownies from Trader Joe’s and now I’m obsessed. And I don’t even like sweets that much. They are dusted with sea salt. Sounds weird. But they are the best! Think salty and sweet.

10. I can’t wait to be a mom again. But give me a chance to get through the terrible twos first!

I couldn’t make this up if I tried December 1, 2007

Tuesday night at 11:00 we went in to check on Shaelin before we went to bed. Both she and her crib were covered in vomit, and she had been in bed for 4 hours. Who knows when the poor little baby got sick? I felt so terrible for her. I immediately took her into the bathroom to try and get her cleaned up. She started vomiting bile. We called the doctor, who recommended that we take her to the ER for an evaluation. We ended up being there until 2:30. Thankfully, everything was fine and by the time we left, she was walking up and down the halls talking to people. That’s my girl!

By Thursday she was feeling better but still a bit emotional. I left her with my very capable niece at 1:00 in the afternoon to go enjoy an evening with my mom. We had a little bit of lunch and then my stomach didn’t feel so good. Uh-oh. At about 4:00 I started feeling pretty crappy. By 6:00 I was wondering if I’d make it home. By 8:00 I was in bed. By 8:45 I was vomiting. It doesn’t end there, people!

Ray had a soccer game that night. He offered to stay home with me, but I told him to go ahead, as I would just be in bed anyway. IF I COULD ONLY TAKE THAT BACK! At 11:00 I vomited again and called down to him for a glass of water. He was taking FOREVER to bring it to me. Because it’s all about me, I’m thinking…”Where the hell is my glass of water???” Ray proceeds to hobble into our room with it. He almost broke his ankle in his game.

Friday I drove him to the doctor. It’s not broken, but could be fractured or he might have some bone chips. I felt like a truck had run over me, but of course, NO TIME FOR THE MOMMY TO BE SICK! I had to take care of Shaelin, as Ray obviously could not. He’s on crutches.

Like the title says, I couldn’t make this up if I tried. This was one of the worst weeks of my life. Thank God it’s over!

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens…oops! Sorry. I was channeling Julie Andrews for a moment there. But seriously, folks…

I’m quietly rocking with Shaelin in her room. It’s dark except for the small lamp on her table. She’s all snuggled up to me. Over and over again, she points her wee little finger to my chest and whispers, “Mommy, Mommy, Mommy.”

It doesn’t get much cuter than that!

Trick or Treat! October 23, 2007

As promised, here are some photos from our trick-or-treat excursion to Blackberry Farm. Our little kangaroo (complete with joey) was adorable as usual and had a lot of fun!

We buckled Shaelin (and joey) in for the ride.

Then we posed for a family photo near the scarecrow.

And then Shaelin felt that the scarecrow needed a hug…

It was a gorgeous day with lots of sunshine. What a fun family memory!

Coco must eat October 12, 2007

I bought Shaelin her first real baby doll. And an outfit for it. And some bottles. And a stroller. Okay, I went crazy. But I can’t help it! I bought it all at Wal-mart, so it really wasn’t too expensive.She is sooooooo cute with this baby! I named her Coco because I thought it might be something she could say. Alas, she just calls her “beebee” for now, which is adorable.Shaelin LOVES to push this baby in the stroller. She will go up and down our sidewalk for hours if you let her.

Here she is feeding Coco. I just love the expression on her face. Something like, “Mom…do you mind? I’m trying to feed my beebee here.”

I just want to eat her up!

Gotta Love Elmo October 11, 2007

Shaelin (my daughter) loves Elmo. She actually loves Sesame Street in general, but Elmo is her favorite. I have to admit that I influenced her a lot, because Sesame Street was also my favorite show as a kid. And Electric Company. And Zoom. Okay, so I watched a lot of TV, so what? hee

Anyway, she has several Elmo DVDs. One of them is about hands, ears, and feet. In the feet part, Elmo Irish dances. I’m talking full clad in leather pants and clogs, he Irish dances, just like Lord of the Dance. It’s hilarious.

You just know that they put that stuff in there for adults. Gotta love Elmo.
